Prosecco tasting, winery tours, sales.
The Ballancin winery can be found on the Strada del Vino Prosecco, in the heart of the DOCG zone. Ballancin’s south-facing vineyards enjoy generous sunshine all year round, and the nutrient-rich soil is ideal for growing Glera grapes. The Ballancin family have over fifty years of experience making Prosecco, and are proud to continue the traditional method of harvesting grapes by hand. They turn the soil regularly, and prune each individual vine to encourage the fruit to ripen. Once ripe, the grapes are picked by hand and softly pressed to obtain the free-run juice, which they then turn into Prosecco. Ballancin is one of the few producers that still makes Prosecco using the traditional sur-lie fermentation method, where the wine is left to ferment in bottles rather than the large stainless-steel autoclaves that are so common these days.
The winery is open to visitors for Prosecco tasting, sales, and guided tours. Staff speak English and Italian.
